librarian movie series
How to convince my school librarian to shoot a film in their library?

Hi,

I’m 15 years old, and I’m planning on filming a mini series (it is not a school assignment, it’s just for fun) with friends and one of the many sets I plan on filming in is in my high school but particularly the school’s library.

The librarian is a bit of a prick and we’re thinking of shooting our scenes after school, however the library closes at 3:25 PM, so we’ll have to work our way around.

I’m just wondering how I could convince my librarian to allow us to film in the library, but also make myself and my cast trustworthy and responsible? I was thinking that shooting there would allow us to show the school’s talented students and also the beauty of the school. But what other reasons could I say?

I take my work seriously and wouldn’t allow anything bad to happen when filming a movie.

Thank you!

You need to explain what’s in it for them. What will they get out of it?

If I were you, I’d avoid the librarian and go straight to the Principle of the school. The Principle is the librarians boss. Explain you protect/film to him/her and how the movie could be used to advertise “how your school benefits kid’s in learning and developing teamwork skills.”
….In your case you want to be a film maker when you want to grow up. He may even agree to post your film on the school website! How cool would that be? If you want to go “big time,” associate yourself with big people aka the principle.

If you have a student council in your school ask them for funding/money to improve set design and build props,..etc. They better set design, stunts, and props can attract more people to watch your film.

If that doesn’t work…offer a bribe. Money talks. Give the librarian an offer she can’t refuse like an extra $50 for a hour after school.
Get your friends to all put $5 in a money pool, tell them that they can be in your movie…as a extra or background people.
