What are the current standards/guidelines for designing a digital preservation policy?
As a photographer I can tell you that there aren’t any governing bodies which dictate to us protocols and procedures for archving our digital image files. The methods which photographers utilize to backup their image files are pretty much the same as if you were backing up data files on your computer. Have a backup of the image on CD or DVD, and another image on the hard drive. If one is smart they will place their backup media in a fire-proof safe or upload the images to a server which is not in the same location as their original images.
