What are the causes of polar bears getting closer to extinction? Why is it important to understant the issue?
I am doing a ecology project in my biology class. We chose a conservation issue to focus on and we are to create a flyer on our issue and present it in front of the class. I am going to choose the topic about polar bears nearing extinction. Any input will help.
Thanks!
I did a similar project in biology a couple years ago.
There is a ton of information out there…
What I found is that melting glaciers are creating greater distance between ice floes. Hence, polar bears have to swim greater distances from piece to piece. They get tired and drown. In 2005, I think, there were more than 70 found dead from drowning.
Additionally, with warming temperatures, polar bears are moving into habitats they didn’t previously occupy, and leaving ones they did. People and polars don’t mix too well.
Another issue is the entire food chain itself. All aspects of the environment are changing… too little food for this leads to too little food for that leads to hungry polar bears.
Like I said, there’s a bunch of stuff out there – google!
Good luck!

The Balance of Nature?: Ecological Issues in the Conservation of Species and Communities $18.01 Ecologists, although they acknowledge the problems involved, generally conduct their research on too few species, in too small an area, over too short a period of time. In The Balance of Nature?, a work sure to stir controversy, the distinguished theoretical ecologist Stuart L. Pimm argues that ecology therefore fails in many ways to address the enormous ecological problems now facing our planet.E… |

Ecocide: A Short History of Mass Extinction of Species $24.75 At the dawn of the 21st century, it is clear that changes of enormous ecological significance are occuring on our planet. The ozone layer is beginning to disintegrate. Since 1970 the world’s forests have almost halved. A quarter of the world’s fish have been depleted. We live in an age of ecocide. 70% of biologists believe the world is now in the midst of the fastest mass extinction of species in … |
library science programs

What is “Library Science” called in college?
I am interested in being a librarian, but in looking through the information from universities, there is no “librarian” degree program. Is it a “media specialist”?
It’s called library science (MLS) and it’s a masters program. You can get a bachelors degree in anything – history, English, art, even science – and then go to library school.

Why is Israel in a constant state of war and or occupation of other nations ?
The gazza strip is outside thier national border
Yet they seem to always be at war or occupying the place
There seems to be constant war with all of it’s nieghbors
Are they all insane Arabs or does Israel share some of the blame for this
I thought for a while the Gazza strip might belong to Israel but according to the CIA world fact book it does not
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/gz.html
Its considered a holy land by Christians/Muslims/Jewish.
The area occupied has the holiest sites that they all claim as their own.
All of them share the blame. They just can’t let people live in their area that belong to another religion “because GOD told them so”
the gazza strip belongs to Palestine.
It’s not Israel alone. It’s religion that does it.
