Civilian Jobs Abroad in the Military.?

I am about to receive my Master’s Degree in Library Science and would love to work abroad on a military base in a school or public library. I currently live in the US and I can’t just pick up and move to Japan or Germany without knowing that I’ll get a job. I was wondering how many of those jobs go to spouses of people and people who live on base or near base.

If you wish to work at the school system on base overseas then look at the DoDD website, it has the best information including how to apply for a job with them. There is no guarantees for a spouse to get a job when they are living overseas. They do have a limited number of jobs available. Depending on the country they are in many people working on base are locals. DoDD teachers and administration are not necessarily spouses but are hired beforehand and many have been there for years.

There is no major public library on base and that is usually one job that would be a local job. If you want to work for hte city itself then you have to be hired by them.

On the Stephen Colbert show…?

did anyone see the episode where he opened a gift shop/museum in colbert county alabama? does anyone have it recorded or know where i can find it online?

I’m sorry but I don’t know where to find it online. But I had to answer because I saw that episode too, and that bit was hilarious! I loved it when he found the mayor waiting in the other guy’s museum line. Laughed my ass off. Have you tried the Colbert Report’s website?

50-year-old Invisible Woman?

This is a weird place in life to be: a 50-year-old single woman who is not a celebrity and who does not look like a model. I was married in my twenties, divorced in my twenties, was an elementary school teacher, now a librarian/archivist. I love rollercoasters and have a professional membership in a national rollercoaster organization. I have a lot of hobbies and interests, but feel socially excluded from the world in general, and particularly excluded from the world of men my age (and even older)– because why?

Hey, I’m 52, a bit of a bookworm, and loved roller-coasters until one day, one I was riding on- broke! Scary. I’m also an artist of sorts, among other things :-) Love animals- horses, cats, and dogs, in that order :-)

Yeah… it can be hard to meet people… if you don’t mix in where people your own age can be found. And there are so many dating clubs and services for people of all different age groups. You just have to search them out locally. It can be tough, if you don’t put the effort into it. Takes work. Dating at ANY age takes work. That never changes, sorry to say. Good luck

Me, I’m single, and looking :-)
