What would be the best tool/way to cut out a piece of wire mesh?

I plan on getting one of those Cactus Hobby Army of Two airsoft masks but I don’t like how the eyes are protected by mesh. I’m going to order a pair of low profile safety goggles so I can cut out the mesh and wear the mask on top of the goggles. So what I need to know is how I would go about cutting out the mesh eyes. I don’t think I can use cutters since there is no end to start cutting at. Maybe a very small drill bit? I honestly have no idea so if anyone could recommend a tool and way to go about this I would be very grateful.

If the mesh is sealed in by a lip around it you can remove by cutting it with a cut-off wheel on a dremel tool & widening the eye-holes or just cut around the edges with a sharp hobby knife.
