wildlife conservation funding

Who thinks Yahoo! should sponser a endangered animals & plants conservation fund??
Should Yahoo sponser an endangered wildlife fund?
No one is required to sponsor anything. What you feel is a major issue may not be for others…Theirs might be sponsoring the starving children we have right here in our own country, Or donating to help the homeless and elderly.
I am sure they do donate money to charities as they get a right off at the end of the year most major companies do this.
The question should really be is it any of your business what charity others donate their money to?

Signing up for 401k through work, which Fund Name to go through?
I don’t know anything about this stuff and don’t know what Fund to go though. My options are:
American Cash Management Trust of America R4
American Bond Fund of America R4
American Income Fund of America R4
American Washington Mutual Investors R4
American Investment Company of America R4
American New Prospective R4
American EuroPacific Growth R4
High Growth Model
Moderate Growth Model
Balanaced Approach Model
Conservative Approach Model
Capital Preservation Model
And they all have options for different %’s next to them. I’m so confused. Will these transfer to another company when I’m no longer here? I’m only going to be working here until December but I figure a little is better than none at all. The company matches 50 cents for every $1.00 and there is no vesting period.
Thanks much to anyone who can help
They match up to 6% I forgot to mention – so should I only do 6%?
You are smart to get started now. This is a great plan because of the 50% match with no vesting period. Most plans require the match to be vested over time, so if you quit the company gets their contribution back.
If you are early in your career (young) my recommendation would be use the High Growth Model and let them figure out the allocation percentages for you. Use your own judgement though.
I’d put the maximum I can afford to get the most matching funds. It is free money to you now, which can compound and grow wonderfully if you leave it in tax-sheltered accounts for many years. I wish I would have had an option like this early in my career.
When you quit, the fund will still have your money invested even though you leave the company. You can do a “rollover” to another account or leave it with them at any time. It is your account, but your company does the deposits for you.
Good luck.
