California Jobs!? (Help?)?

I’ll be moving from Illinois to California very soon & I’m trying to explore my job options when first moving down there! I was thinking I could be a (librarian/secretary/maid) by the time I move down there I’ll have just turned 18 & I’m moving with some family friends until I can get a decent paying job & rent an apartment the problem is In California will these job options be open & what are some others that some can suggest,I want something decent paying but will the options of being those 3 above be open? Also how much would a secretary/librarian or maid get paid??? My friend Deb used to be a maid & she said she got paid decent…& what do people think about maybe being a telemarketer I hear sometimes they get paid good..one last question what do these jobs require? & what do you have to do in them??? I’m not sure what any of them do besides maid which is clean but I’m sure theres more to it (Please Help!) I’d appreciate it,Ok Thanks in advance!

First of all good luck to you. Librarian jobs are not just something anyone can apply for.They have degrees from colleges and universities and it is a career.Maybe you meant a position in the library. A lot of those jobs are volunteer positions. Secretarial positions might be your best bet depending on your experience and office knowledge. Pay would be negotiable. Forget being a maid. The hispanic population has this industry locked up. If you are not hispanic you will not find a job. When a maid job opens employers just hire one of their employees relatives or friends. You might get hired in a casino but that is a less than 1% chance. Try a temp agency when you arrive here. You might even get free training or job skills. The job market is not really good here right now so I wish you luck.

In Celebration of Black History Month, The Caribbean Community Resource Centre will present the “Annual Black Book Fair” on Wednesday, February 6th, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at Toronto’s City Hall, at 100 Queen Street West.

This Annual Event features Writers, Publishers, Storytellers, Booksellers, Spoken-word Artists, Emerging Writers, Workshops, and more. Many activities will be available for adults and youth alike. Teachers are encouraged to bring students. Parents should bring children. All are welcome; the event is free to the public.

– The Annual Black Book Fair creates a unique opportunity to share educational and learning materials in an innovative and experiential way with the community at large. The Event is provides students with role models for self-efficiency, and exposure to career options including entrepreneurialism, writing, publishing and other creative pursuits & endeavors from and by people of diverse backgrounds. The experience will increase self-respect, self-esteem and expand self-awareness and success.

– Ms. Jo Lena Johnson, International Speaker & Trainer, will kick-off the event –and then conduct an 11 am workshop for educators, teachers and librarians focused on encouraging self-esteem, success and engagement among children of color.

– At 6 pm Ms. Johnson will conduct an exciting, interactive workshop for parents and children to provide tools for communication, inspiration and ways to create quality time during day-to-day family activities. – Featured Writers Include: Writer/Actor DIRK Mc LEAN – The CBC has produced The House On Hermitage Road which Dirk adapted from his Trinidadian childhood memoir of the same title. His plays for young audiences, which have toured elementary schools in Ontario, include Shall We Call A Teacher? and The Real McCoy (with Amah Harris and Itah Sadu).
