When it comes to looking for a present for your boyfriend’s birthday, we are spoilt for choice. There are literally thousands of products to choose from, and choice comes hand in hand with difficulty in finding and deciding what to buy. From my own personal experience, I always try and narrow down my search by looking for interesting gifts which matches his interests, his hobbies and the occasion. Adaptive Technology Catalog: Tools for Survivors of Landmines and Explosive Remnants of War Available
Publication is Practical Resource for Disabled
(Harrisonburg, VA—October 27, 2008) Available now, the Adaptive Technology Catalog: Tools for Survivors of Landmines and Explosive Remnants of War provides information on a variety of low-cost, low-technology products that government, survivor assistance and other agencies can purchase to help the victims of landmines and other explosive remnants of war (ERW) get back to self-sufficient work. Focused primarily on serving people who have lost one or both arms, one or both legs, or have eyesight or hearing deficiencies as a result of injuries sustained in explosions or accidents, the Adaptive Technology Catalog is comprised of products that are generally priced under US$500. Low-technology requirements of the more than 300 products included allows for easy repair and replacement using locally available services and supplies.
The Adaptive Technology Catalog includes information on a range of practical tools for automotive repair; communication, computer and office work; mechanical tasks and construction; crafts, hobbies and recreation; farming and agriculture; and culinary applications. These products are designed to assist those victims who have been disabled and want to return to work, in addition to those individuals who desire to be trained in a new occupation. Once you have decided that you want to take up fishing as one of your hobbies you need to learn the basics of the sport. You could learn by trial and error, which is the most difficult way to learn or you could latch on to an experienced angler or hire the services of an instructor to teach you the basics.
1. Buy seasickness medication
If you plan to go out to sea with some experienced anglers (it is not advisable to go out on your own if you are just setting out in this sport) you should get yourself some sea sickness medication to prevent yourself fro ruining your fishing experience. The best way is to take one pill before you sleep and one when you wake in the morning then another when you board the boat.
2. Buy a reference book
Get yourself some good fishing reference books. Do not go for the fancy expensive ones. There are a lot of fishing books at the local boo store and sifting through the pages will give you a fairly good idea of which ones are best for you. There will be some things that you will not really understand in the beginning but you should read it any way. These are really about safety and legalities of fishing.
3. Go to a party
Book yourself onto a fishing party boat. Fishing party boats provide anglers with everything they need for their fishing trip. These fishing party boats carry from 10 to 15 anglers and provide them with equipment such as rods, line and bait. The crew assists the anglers with advice and fishing techniques and when you get your first catch they will also help you get the catch off the hook. If you are an amateur the mates of the boat will soon spot you and linger close to assist you whenever you need it and you will not even have to ask. Party bats will cost you anywhere from $25 to $70 for a day and you can keep the fish you catch. This is a very good way for beginners to the sport of fishing.
4. Pick your pier
If you have already acquired some fishing skills with your rod and line then the best option for you is to get yourself a pier to fish from. Many coastal places have a pay-to-fish pier and these are good spots to hone your skills as an amateur angler. You will find many anglers on the pier ready to assist you in case you get into trouble.
5. Party or pier
Alternate between party boats and piers as many times as you can, this will help you get the experience you require to lure the kind of fish you are looking for and you get to learn from the other experience angers too. This is the best way to learn all about this exciting sport.
6. The reel deal
You are probably using the conventional reel that most beginners are used to up till now. It is time you experimented with different types of reel. Ask around on the pier and party boats and also at the local sport store about the many types of fishing reel that you could use to improve your fishing skills.
What you need to do is to understand the mechanics of the reel and associated equipment. There is a lot to learn like casting, tying knots, hooking bait and a lot more. Most importantly you need to know how to choose a fishing location. Experienced anglers know exactly where the fish are biting and how to follow a particular fish they are after. Learning the habitats and feeding habits of a fish is important and can only come with experienced. So learn something every chance you get and you will soon be one of the expert anglers lurking along the water ways out there.
