american museum professionals

i need help to correct and proof read this paragraph!!!?
I want to make it sound professional.
Sontag comments that, with the creation of museums, especially in America, viewers are able to refresh their past. Observers also have the chance to know that their sufferings are not forgotten. There are an abundance of museums about foreign atrocities. Yet, the America has not established even one museum dedicated to its own infamous atrocities, the slavery of African Americans. However, Sontag argues, the creation of this museum would bring disorder within the country and individual beliefs. America prefers to expose the suffering and injustice of other countries than to admit and display the horrors within. America hides all of its unpleasant decisions and events to maintain a reputation as the best country in the world. As an icon of perfection, the United States has become part of foreign countries’ distressing photographs, playing the role of their idol and savior.
Here are a few edits …
Sontag comments that with the creation of museums, especially in America, viewers are able to review their past. Observers have the chance to know that their sufferings are not forgotten. An abundance of museums have displays of foreign atrocities. Yet America has not established even one museum dedicated to its own infamous atrocities such as the slavery of African Americans. However, Sontag argues, the creation of this museum would bring disorder to the country and confusion about individual beliefs. America prefers to expose the suffering and injustice of other countries rather than admit to and display the horrors within it own borders. America hides its unpleasant decisions and events to maintain a reputation as the best country in the world.
As an icon of perfection, the United States has become part of foreign countries’ distressing photographs, playing the role of their idol and savior. (Not sure what you are trying to say in this sentence. Your purpose in it is unclear. Do you mean something like “Despite portraying itself as an icon of perfection, the idol and savior of other countries, the United States has caused distress around the world”?
I hope this helps.
