It seems I don’t have any friends…?

After a pretty harsh fight w/ some “ex-friends” it seems my social life has dropped to zero. I’m a college student in San Diego, live alone, and my life has been classes, looking for a job, and then straight home. People that I associate with have that distinct group of friends that I tag along with on rare occasion, but thats about it. I have alot of hobbies, and tend to keep myself busy that way, but it just doesnt fill the emptyness left by lacking human interaction. I tend to act alot older than my age, and dont like to drink or party or anything like that and that seems to hold me back. I’m really shy when I meet people, but I do open up a bit more when I get to know someone. Its getting really tough to just sit at home at night knowing that people are out there having fun with friends.

I dont know what to do. Any advice? I dont have alot of money to go spend on alot of stuff either.

College is supposed to be the best years of your life. Now do you live on campus or transport back and forth. The difference is great. Universities are diverse. Join a common-interest group. Say you like chess, join a chess club if they have one. Everyone has hobbies. If there’s a club/group that involves your hobbies, just drop by once and see how you like it. Those places are always great to meet people because you share a common interest and the majority of the time… they are cheap or even free. Colleges; yes, do primarily drink and party but not everyone does. I don’t go every Friday and Saturday to drink (mind you I work too).

Before, I was like you. I was only going to school and nothing else. Got pretty depressing. I then found out that my college had a group of people who were like me so I became friends with some of them (some who are my best friends now). So now, I find it hard to juggle friends, college, and work. I prefer that lifestyle though. Why don’t you give this a shot. If it doesn’t work, you can contact me for further details.

Good luck.
